The Swallows of Kabul (DVD)

Set in Kabul during the summer of 1998, under the harsh rule of the Taliban, The Swallows of Kabul follows two couples whose lives become tragically intertwined. Young lovers Zunaira and Mohsen dream of a future beyond fear, religious extremism, and daily violence, while Atiq, a weary prison guard, struggles to care for his terminally ill wife, Mussarat. After a single impulsive act leads to devastating consequences, the characters are drawn into a chain of events that tests their humanity, love, and capacity for sacrifice in a society stripped of freedom and compassion.
