When a small-town police chief is found dead in a prostitute’s house, a particularly handsome and quick-witted Paris commissioner named Stan Borowitz (Belmondo) is sent to investigate. Posing as the prostitute’s long-lost brother “Antonio Cerruti,” he discovers a mare’s nest of “ripoux” (French for “corrupt cops”). In fact, the whole town is downright dirty, right up to the mayor! Director Georges Lautner (Le Professionnel, Icy Breasts) teams with screenwriters Michel Audiard (The Body of My Enemy, Deadly Circuit) and Jean Herman (The Outsider, Dog Day) for one of Belmondo’s wittiest, wildest outings.
